There are many older, paper based designs that would look great on the water today. For a variety of reasons many people are choosing to bypass the lofting and fairing stage of a build and instead are converting the design into a digital format. From this, moulds, frame shapes, bulkheads and jigs can be machine cut or hand cut from actual sized prints. This is of particular advantage to the smaller yard or individual who may not have the skills or space to use a full sized loft floor and/or perform any necessary fairing. This can also be useful when working with incomplete or partial drawings; for example when making structural repairs or restorations to a known design, when a shape jig might be needed to pull the structure back to its original designed form.
